Overview
Supervisors are responsible for teaching supervisees how to address issues of diversity within the counseling relationship, and how to address their biases and triggers in order to provide culturally sensitive counseling.
In This Session - 3 Hours
Supervisors are responsible for teaching supervisees how to address issues of diversity within the counseling relationship, and how to address their biases and triggers in order to provide culturally sensitive counseling. Culturally responsive supervision includes mentoring, guiding, supporting, and facilitating learning culturally specific issues within supervisory process (Fukuyama, 1994).
Session Objectives:
- Participants will learn how to facilitate discussions on cultural differences with supervisees
- Participants will learn ways how to manage supervisor and supervisee anxieties
- Integrate concepts of diversity into the context of supervision.
Cancellations & Substitutions
Registration cancellations prior to 7 days in advance of the training will incur no penalty. Cancellations within 6 days of the training are subject to a $50.00 cancellation fee. Cancellation notices must be sent in writing to AzCA. No refunds will be made on cancellations made within 2 days because committed funds and forfeited fees cannot be applied to future meetings due to IRS reporting requirements. Substitutions are not permitted due to the nature of the training.
Continuing Education Approval
The Arizona Counselors Association is an NBCC-Approved CE Provider. Participants can earn 3 CEs for this training. This session qualifies for 3 hours of multicultural training designed by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners.
Supervision Training - Component
This certificate applies to the 3-hour training "Culturally Responsive Supervision ".
When combined with 3 additional clinical supervision trainings, this session with the others qualifies for the 12 hours of training to complete the required Arizona Clinical Supervision hours.
When combined with 1 additional clinical supervision training, this session with the other qualifies for the 6 hours of training for the renewal of the Arizona Clinical Supervision hours.
