Overview
Adding complexity and depth to the introductory course, advanced clinical supervision focuses on the advanced techniques, special circumstances, cultural competency in supervision and the ethics of self-care in supervision.
In This Session - 3 Hours
In this session, we will explore topics of supervision more in depth.. Intended for new and experienced clinical supervisors, the focus will be on translating knowledge to practice. Topics covered will include (a) assessing your supervision style and techniques (b) effective evaluation of supervisee skills and professional development (c) research on cultural competency in supervision (d) ethical considerations in supervision focusing on self-care.
Session Objectives – Upon completion of the training, attendees will be able to:
- Identify supervision style and style specific techniques
- Develop effective evaluator tools to measure supervisee growth and development
- Understand the implications of culture on supervisory relationships d. Explain the ethical implications of self -care for supervisor and supervisee
Cancellations & Substitutions
Registration cancellations prior to 7 days in advance of the training will incur no penalty. Cancellations within 6 days of the training are subject to a $50.00 cancellation fee. Cancellation notices must be sent in writing to AzCA. No refunds will be made on cancellations made within 2 days because committed funds and forfeited fees cannot be applied to future meetings due to IRS reporting requirements. Substitutions are not permitted due to the nature of the training.
Continuing Education Approval
The Arizona Counselors Association is an NBCC-Approved CE Provider. Participants can earn 3 CEs for this training.
Supervision Training - Component
This certificate applies to the 3-hour training "Advanced Clinical Supervision in Counseling and Psychotherapy".
When combined with 3 additional clinical supervision trainings, this session with the others qualifies for the 12 hours of training to complete the required Arizona Clinical Supervision hours.
When combined with 1 additional clinical supervision training, this session with the other qualifies for the 6 hours of training for the renewal of the Arizona Clinical Supervision hours.

Behavioral Director
Sheila Babendir, EdD, LPC, Behavioral Director of Atembis, located in Flagstaff. Sheila graduated from Marian College in 1981 with Bachelor’s of Business Administration and University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Master's of Science in Counseling Psychology / Counseling Education. She graduated with a Doctorate of Education in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University in 2009. Sheila was licensed in counseling in Arizona in 2004. She completed internships and research specialties in Bipolar disorder, Pediatric Bipolar Disorder and Autism Spectrum Disorders. Sheila is a past president of Arizona Counselors Association.
